What a Difference a Year Makes in Robert Pattinson

The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, is out now and is met with praise from the audience. This return to Pattinson is likely to strengthen his status as Hollywood’s top actor.

It is supremely difficult to shed the shadows of Edward Cullen of Twilight and Cedric Diggory of Harry Potter. Robert Pattinson managed it. In the wake of Matt Reeves’ The Batman release this week, Pattinson seems like someone that people would really like to root for at the moment. Although Pattinson does not seem like the typical charismatic wealthy playboy character that other Batman actors have portrayed however, he brings something unique to the role of Bruce Wayne that can be admiration.

While he’s been a bit away from his characters in the past, Pattinson’s role is The Caped Crusader. He was cast in roles such as Good Time, Tenet and The Lighthouse after completing the Twilight story. He has been praised for his acting skills throughout these films which has allowed him in taking on older material.

You can see in Good Time that he’s not always the dark, brooding figure that is intimidating or distant. He has pushed his limits. He is not a typecast actor in any of his performances.

The Batman also features Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano as Catwoman, The Riddler as The Riddler and The Penguin as Colin Farrell. This version of Gotham is quite different in its tone and style in comparison to the lavish Christopher Nolan trilogy. It’s more gritty, darker and more tonally balanced.

Following the disaster of Justice League the public can feel hopeful that the studios will spend more time fleshing out their films. Although Ben Affleck tried his best and was a great actor, it’s possible that studios did a better job by using Pattinson as actor. They’ll each get their own moment of gloryinstead of being forced to share time with famous characters like Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman and The Flash. They will have many more solo films under their belts which means that they will have opportunities to unite for their second ensemble movie. We’re hoping that Pattinson is involved.

While not much has been discussed about his plans for an expanded DCEU appearance, it has already been revealed that there will be a sequel to The Batman. We’ll have to wait and keep our eyes peeled for The Bat.
